Property Care Association AGM, 2015

We recently attended the AGM of our regulatory body the PCA held at Cambridge University.

This is the highlight of the industries calendar where the cream of the industry get to dress posh and have, what is essentially a jolly good knees up!

Joking apart (well perhaps not!) , manufacturers attend to showcase new products and materials on the market. I remember years ago Safeguard Europe Ltd developed an innovative new DPC product called Dryzone. We were one of the first companies to use it and never looked back. 15 years later local builders and DIY enthusiasts are now using this product, meanwhile, we are using the latest products.   We’re always one step ahead.

There were also seminars from Brian Ridout speaking about a Clash of Approaches on Remedial Treatments and Heritage Conservation – a topic close to our hearts. Peter Wilson from Edinburgh University on the Impact of Timber Innovation and Future Property Care and Dr Dirk Lukowsky on Failure Analysis of Wood.

The event was hosted by comedian Dominic Holland (Never mind the Buzzcocks and Have I got News For You fame) who was clearly very , very excited. Sadly it was not because of being asked to address us but because his son had just been asked to play the role of Superman in the next upcoming film production. I couldn’t help but text through his performance to let my grandson know that I was sitting inches away from Superman’s Dad.   My kudos with the grandchildren is now sky high.

Unfortunately we didn’t win the coveted Contractor of the Year award so will be working extra hard this year in an attempt. Will keep you posted!
