Rising Damp in an internal wall.
Rising Damp Works carried out to a property in Leatherhead.
This week we completed some work to address Rising Dampness at a property in Leatherhead.
Rising Damp had been identified by a Property Care Association (PCA) independent surveyor. These surveyors do not carry out treatment works but are committed to inspecting, advising and compiling reports only.
He had inspected the outside and inside of the property for any defects but couldn’t find any. The internal wall was showing classic signs of Rising Damp.
The client contacted us to carry out work based on her surveyor’s recommendation. We removed the plaster back to the brickwork, injected a chemical damp proof course before applying a sand and cement render plaster with a waterproof additive. This gave the client the benefit of a 10-year guarantee.
Whilst on site, the client was concerned with dampness on her solid floor. We were able to apply a DPM to the section of floor she was concerned with, allowing her to lay her choice of floor covering. Providing the floor slab is in sound condition, this is quick and easy to do.
Upon completion, the client was issued with a long term guarantee. It’s common knowledge that a guarantee is only worth the paper it is written on and if a company ceases trading, or refuses to answer their phones, the guarantee is rendered useless, however, the client had done her homework prior to instructing us and knew we had been trading since 1974 making her guarantee a valuable document should she decide to sell the property.
